HIV Prevention, PrEP and Pregnancy Planning

The Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) and Midwest AIDS Training and Education Center (MATEC) invite Chicago-area physicians, nurses and members of the workforce in reproductive health, HIV and primary care to join them Wednesday, July 19, 2017 for two, free clinical training opportunities with MHPPPI.

Understanding and Integrating Advances in HIV Prevention (3.0 credits/contact hours)

Participants will learn the latest in HIV reduction strategies and what options like pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), the daily pill for HIV prevention, post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), and HIV treatment mean for women.  Participating clinicians will gain knowledge and skills to support counseling for women living with and vulnerable to HIV in having healthy sex lives.  Wednesday, July 19, 2017, 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Assessing and Supporting Reproductive Health Care Needs and Desires of People Living with HIV (3.0 credits/contact hours)

Participants will increase understanding of the barriers to reproductive health care people living with HIV face and how to better meet their needs. This highly interactive training will discuss: effective strategies for initiating affirming conversations about fertility desires; safer conception strategies for sero-different couples; and facilitating access to contraception and conception care, resources, supports, and assistance. Wednesday, July 19, 2017, 12:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m.
