Risk-Targeted HIV Testing
This new course replaces “Fundamentals of HIV Counseling and Testing” and, like Fundamentals, it is required for all new HIV counselors who provide HIV testing to targeted populations. The course will teach participants how to provide HIV testing in accordance with the new CDC guidance to persons most at risk for HIV infection. This includes men who have sex with men (MSM), high risk heterosexuals (HRH), and injection drug users (IDU). The course focuses less on counseling and more on testing and linkage to biomedical prevention and care services. The training will also include hands on practice with Partner Services. Pre-requisite for registration includes the HIV Counseling and Testing Forms Training.
The prerequisites for this training are the IDPH HIV Home Study and Counseling and Testing Forms Training online courses.
