MPV (Monkeypox) Testing in Community Clinics–Webinar
MPV is a new and emerging concern in Illinois. Patients with rash illness may present to many types of health care facilities. Cases in the U.S. have presented at urgent cares, immediate cares, dermatology clinics, sexually transmitted disease clinics and emergency departments.
This 60 minute event will feature Drs. Anu Hazra and Maya Green from Howard Brown Health and Dr. Arti Barnes from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
This event will target information to community clinic and urgent care providers on:
- the new face of MPV
- the need to alert the patient to isolate if MPV is suspected
- how to properly prepare to receive a suspect patient
- how to get approval to test patients at the IDPH public health laboratory
- how to properly collect swabs for testing
