If you enroll in an Illinois Marketplace health insurance plan and want to receive all the Ryan White Part B, ADAP Medication Assistance and CHIC Premium Assistance benefits for which you qualify, you must enroll in one of the plans approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health during the open enrollment period from Nov. 1, 2016 to Jan. 31, 2017. Read this flyer for more information about the approved plans and the free American Exchange service that provides enrollment assistance.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) enables people living with HIV to obtain health insurance through the Illinois Marketplace. The AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP Medication Assistance), Continuation of Health Insurance Coverage Program (CHIC Premium Assistance), and Ryan White Part B can provide further assistance, beyond what the ACA does, to make health care and support services more accessible to people living with HIV.
Due to the ACA, insurance plans may no longer deny coverage to people living with HIV or with any other pre-existing conditions. The ACA also makes Medicaid coverage available to more Illinois residents and families, lowers Medicare prescription drug costs, and ensures the coverage of certain preventive health care services.
