Religion as a Social Determinant of Health: HIV and AIDS in Black LGBTQ+ Communities
Guest Speaker: Don Abram, M.Div, Founder & President, Pride in the Pews
Learning Objectives:
· Apply culturally sensitive and trauma-informed tools (e.g., Emerging Health Model) to improve the mental and sexual health of Black LGBTQ+ communities living with HIV and AIDS
· Understand how religious trauma impacts a patient’s relationship with clinical providers and resources
· Understand how stigma and discrimination permeate certain religious spaces and household upbringings, and how stigma impact treatment retention and quality of health care experiences of those with HIV and AIDS
