Living with HIV can bring up a lot of questions concerning about how to pay for care and medications. If you are covered by a private insurance policy, talk with your health care provider and insurance company to find out what HIV care and treatment options your insurance provider covers.
Illinois HIV Care Connect can help you find programs that may help you pay for your care and treatment if your insurance doesn’t cover the type of care you need, or if you don’t have insurance. During a one-on-one meeting with your Illinois HIV Care Connect case manager, all information about your medical and other needs will be gathered to determine your eligibility for these various programs and services.
For example, ADAP Medication Assistance, CHIC Premium Assistance, and the Ryan White Part B Program provides HIV-related services for those in the United States who do not have enough health care coverage or financial resources to pay for care or medications. Medicaid and Medicare also have provisions for those who have low income or are elderly or disabled and require HIV treatment and medications. Other programs even may provide assistance with food and housing.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) expanded access to coverage for persons living with HIV. Additional information may be found through the ACA helpline at 1-800-318-2596.
